Babes in Toyland Linen Set

Linen, embroidery floss

With their repeating patterns and delicate shapes, the folk art found in the title cards of the Disney classic Babes in Toyland always fascinated me as a child. I recently stumbled upon a cross stitched linen shirt from Bode and knew I had to recreate it, (with my own twist, of course!)

I began by designing a linen set that would be flowy with a slightly cropped shirt to accentuate the high-waisted joggers. I then revisited the film and took screen captures of my favorite motifs. From here, I planned the placement of the motifs and created charts for each.

Sewing the linen was fairly straight-forward, but the cross stitching process was lengthy. I have yet to complete the planned designs on the back, but I think I will save those for the future so I can continue with other projects.
