Paper theater inspired by Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Cardboard, paper, colored pencil, aluminum foil, crayon, acrylic paint, bamboo skewers (2013)

A converted shoebox becomes the theater from the Mickey’s Philharmagic attraction at Walt Disney World. At one point, six different interchangeable backdrops existed, each showing a different moment from the 3D show’s “Be Our Guest” scene. Punctures in the back and side walls enabled props on bamboo skewers to be puppeteered through the theater, replicating the show’s 3D elements. Aluminum foil on the sides and base was intended to act like mirrors, visually continuing the backdrops.
