Balloons is inspired by the many hot air balloon festivals that arose in the late 20th century. Many of the designs derive from traditional quilt patterns, which have become synonymous with hot air balloons due to their simple nature lending well to the massive balloons. A few of the designs are original, such as the umbrella and sailboat balloons.

The repeat design, created in Adobe Illustrator, was divided into red, yellow, and blue separations for screen printing. Through the printing process the orange and green were formed. The 24” x 36” design was repeated in two rows over a four yard length of cotton broadcloth.
